Abstract
The article analyzes of faunal remains from the excavations of the Zakubanskaya expedition of the State Hermitage museum in the site of Meshoko in 2008. A total of 606 bones were determined to the species. The largest number of bones belongs to the pig, the second place is the cow, a smaller proportion is occupied by small cattle, wild species do not exceed 3.5 percent, there are no dog and a horse. Based on the ratio of the main groups of mammals, three groups of Eneolithic settlements are distinguished. In the first group (the site Meshoko, Yasenovaya Polyana, Khutor Veseliy) the leading role belongs to the cow and pig. In the second group (Kamennomostskaya cave, Hajokh, Guam grotto) the sheep and goat occupy the most significant place, the share of bones of wild animals is high. She is close to the third group, the feature of which is the presence of the horse's bones (the site Myskhako I, Zamok).
